We’re just two moms trying to help our kids navigate through this digital age in a safe, productive way, while at the same time trying to keep up ourselves. And we want everyone to get off the phone so we can have a real conversation.
After countless discussions and a couple of our kids’ eye-opening experiences, we realized we can’t be the only ones stumbling through this new era, looking for a little guidance. It became clear—we educate our children about strangers, drinking, drugs and sex. It’s time to add social media and online safety and responsibility to the list. And just like with the other topics, the game is constantly changing. Plus, whatever happened to quality uninterrupted family time?
We’re not counselors offering approved answers for the questions printed on these cards. But we do know these are conversations we should be having, and in discussing these topics we learn from each other, teach our children what we think is right, and sometimes we’ll need to find out the answers together.
We understand phones are part of our everyday lives — we're not suggesting the eradication of phones. But we are suggesting a family movement back to conversations without distractions and quality family time, alongside safe and responsible behavior in this new digital world.
