By now you are probably tired of seeing your tween or teen on their phone all summer. It’s a great time to refocus the family on less screen time. Of course we want our kids to focus on their schoolwork. But we also want them to have downtime when they’re at home, to be with their family and friends, and to just have much needed time to rest.
As much as they’ll say they aren’t tired and don’t need a lot of sleep, they do. Try to have a technology free night once or twice a week. This means no phones, computers or TVs. This means everyone in the house participates.
Another beneficial practice for parents and kids alike is to ban cell phones from the bedroom. Find another device to use for your morning alarm.
